Southlake Regional Health Centre

Southlake Regional Health Centre is a full service hospital with a regional, clinically advanced focus. Situated in the community of Newmarket, just 40 minutes north of Downtown Toronto, Southlake offers 400 patient beds and a full complement of outpatient services and accommodates approximately 67,000 emergency patient visits and almost 22,000 inpatient admissions each year.

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre

The Human Research Protections Program (HRPP) at Sunnybrook adheres to the highest ethical standards as set out in governing guidelines, policies and regulations for the ethical conduct of research involving humans. The HRPP works with the research community to ensure the rights, safety and well-being of research participants through ethical oversight, sound research practice and regulatory compliance. In order to achieve this, the HRPP consists of two arms: Research Ethics, and Quality Assurance and Education.

The Hospital for Sick Children

Clinical Research Services at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) is committed to supporting clinical research excellence by providing the research community with leadership, guidance, education and resources for the planning and conduct of clinical research. CRS is responsible for the management and evaluation of activities aimed to establish and maintain quality assurance and regulatory compliance in the conduct of clinical research at and on behalf of SickKids.

Thunder Bay Regional Health Research Institute

The Thunder Bay Regional Health Research Institute is an independent, not-for-profit research corporation.  As the research arm of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, the Research Institute’s mandate is to facilitate clinical research – particularly in the area of imaging and related fields – strategic to regional health care needs. Current research areas include but are not limited to cancer, cardiac disease, stroke, orthopaedics, Indigenous health, and lung disease. The Institute also supports clinical trials at the Health Sciences Centre, which has been among Canada’s Top 40 Research Hospitals since 2010 thanks in large part to the activities of the Research Institute.

The Research Institute aims to develop innovative health care techniques from concept to clinical trials to commercialization, supporting scientists and clinicians at every step. As part of the 24 research hospitals in Ontario, the Research Institute has shaped its Strategic Directions around the Council of Academic Hospitals of Ontario tenets of Healthier, Wealthier, and Smarter:

  • Healthier – Lead research to improve the health outcomes of the people of Northwestern Ontario and beyond.
  • Wealthier – Advance philanthropic and other support and generate revenue through science and partnerships.
