St. Mary’s General Hospital (SMGH) is a 197‑bed adult acute-care teaching hospital located on Queen’s Boulevard in Kitchener, Ontario. Founded in 1924, it serves the Waterloo–Wellington region and is home to the Regional Cardiac Care Centre, along with strong programs in respiratory, medicine, day surgery, diagnostics, and emergency care . SMGH, with around 2,000 staff, physicians, and volunteers, merged with Grand River Hospital on April 1, 2025, forming the Waterloo Regional Health Network; the St. Mary’s site is now known as WRHN @ Queen’s Blvd.
SMGH is ranked among Canada’s safest hospitals and has recently partnered with the YMCA of Stratford to open a satellite pacemaker monitoring clinic, reflecting its ongoing commitment to accessible, community-centred care.
