Vancouver Island Health Authority

Vancouver Island Health Authority is one of five regional health authorities in British Columbia, and provides health care and services to more than 765,000 people on and around Vancouver Island.  Island Health’s purpose is to provide superior health care through innovation, teaching and research and a commitment to quality and safety—creating healthier, stronger communities and a better quality of life for those we touch. To that end, our Clinical Trials Unit has been working with local Qualified Investigators to increase number of studies and treatment options we offer to patients for over 20 years. We conduct both investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored clinical trials, with strengths in endocrinology, neurology (including dementia, stroke and multiple sclerosis), nephrology, infectious diseases and acute care. Victoria is also the home of a vibrant community-based clinical research community, with high quality sites conducting clinical trials in a wide range of therapeutic areas. The Island Clinical Research Collaborative serves to connect our clinical research community as a small, active and local network embedded within N2 on Vancouver Island.
