The WHRI is an academic, government-funded centre founded in 2005 and based in Vancouver. It leads and supports women’s and newborns’ health research across BC and beyond—covering areas like sexual and reproductive health, perinatal care, trauma-informed practice, chronic disease, mental health, and gender-based violence. The institute provides core services (networking, training, funding support) to over 500 investigators and hosts annual symposia, webinars, and scholar programs aimed at advancing evidence-based, sex‑and‑gender-informed policy and practice.
