Canadian Cancer Trials Group

The Canadian Cancer Trials Group is a cooperative oncology group which carries out clinical trials in cancer therapy, supportive care and prevention across Canada and internationally. It a national programme of the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) and is the only Canadian member of the National Clinical Trials Network in the US.

CIHR Pan-Canadian Network for HIV and STBBI Clinical Trials Research

The Canadian HIV Trials Network (CTN) is committed to developing treatments, vaccines and a cure for HIV disease and AIDS through the conduct of scientifically sound and ethical clinical trials. The CTN is an innovative partnership of clinical investigators, physicians, nurses, people living with HIV/AIDS, pharmaceutical manufacturers and others that facilitate HIV/AIDS clinical trials.

Canadian Phase Onward Inc.

Canadian Phase Onward Inc. (CPO) was opened in 2004 due to the growing interest from pharmaceutical companies in more non-hospital based Canadian sites to participate in their diverse clinical trials. CPO conducts Phase 2, 3 and 4 clinical research trials in a wide range of all diagnostic areas including but not limited to smoking cessation, diabetes, erectile dysfunction, hypertension, cardiovascular (general), migraine, weight loss, GERD, irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, diabetic peripheral neuropathy, metabolic syndrome, insomnia, pain relief, fibromyalgia, COPD, asthma,  schizophrenia, and depression. CPO also has experience in vaccine studies.

CPO is located at the same site, and operates in tandem with, the Polyclinic Family and Specialty Medicine Facility, resulting in a referral network of more than 60 specialists and 15 family physicians. CPO also has access to numerous medical and procedural testing facilities that are all available on-site, including phlebotomy, ECG, x-ray, ultrasound, bone density, mammography, gastroscopy and colonoscopy, full pulmonary function testing (including methacholine challenge testing), stress testing, echocardiography, stress-echocardiography, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, holter monitoring, duplex dopler examination, audiology testing,  optometry, and a sleep laboratory.

CancerCare Manitoba

CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB) is the provincial cancer authority responsible for setting strategic priorities and long-term planning for cancer and blood disorders for the province. CCMB provides clinical services to both children and adults. The cancer services the organization provides to Manitobans include prevention, early detection, multidisciplinary cancer treatment, supportive and end-of-life care. CCMB is also responsible for radiation protection throughout the province. In addition, the Research Institute at CCMB investigates all aspects of cancer and blood disorders, including research to improve the patient’s experience while at CCMB.

CancerCare Manitoba relies on the ongoing support of Manitoba Health, Seniors and Active Living and its close working relationships with regional health authorities to deliver quality cancer services to Manitobans. The financial assistance provided by the donations of Manitobans to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation is vital to undertaking research and providing quality care to Manitobans.

The organization’s multidisciplinary approach to patient care attracts experts in medical, radiation and surgical oncology, hematology, the best and brightest scientists, passionate nursing staff and other dedicated health-care professionals.

CCMB has seven locations in Winnipeg. The main site at 675 McDermot Avenue provides chemotherapy and radiation treatments, patient support services and houses the Research Institute. In Brandon, in partnership with Prairie Mountain Health, the Western Manitoba Cancer Centre offers residents of western Manitoba access to radiation therapy, chemotherapy and patient support services.

Manitoba patients can receive care close to home thanks to CCMB’s partnerships with regional health authorities.
