McMaster was established in 1887 and is one of Canada’s top research-intensive universities. North York General Hospital has a long track record of innovation in patient safety and process improvements. The hospital is one of the first in Canada to achieve HIMSS Stage 6 in the implementation of electronic medical records. North York General provides an exceptional care experience for patients and their families, and has proudly served diverse communities in North Toronto, and beyond, since 1968 through a wide range of acute care, ambulatory and long-term care services. As a leading community academic hospital, North York General has made meaningful investments to foster research and innovation, such as the Gordon F. Cheesbrough Research Chair in Family and Community Medicine, the first of its kind in Canada.
