Rachel Syme is the Program Director of Research and Clinical Trials at Cystic Fibrosis Canada, bringing a rich background in microbiology and infectious diseases to her role.

She earned her PhD in Microbial Immunology/Infectious Diseases and an MSc in Medical Genetics from the University of Calgary, following a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Queen’s University.

Before joining CF Canada in 2023, Rachel served as Assistant Director at CIHR’s Institute of Cancer Research for nearly a decade and previously led clinical trials operations at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. She has also held adjunct academic appointments at the University of Calgary and contributed to national research capacity development.
