The Royal’s Institute of Mental Health Research

The University of Ottawa Institute of Mental Health Research (IMHR), housed within The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, is a not-for-profit translational research institute. It unites five teaching hospitals and employs around 259 researchers and 500+ staff across major domains like cancer, infectious disease, regenerative medicine, neuroscience, reproductive & perinatal health, population health, and more.

Fueled by the philosophy “Research is Care”, IMHR harnesses innovations—such as Canada’s first brain imaging PET-MRI in a mental health research setting—to enable personalized medicine, early intervention, and evidence-based prevention strategy development  . It is governed by a voluntary Board and recognized among Canada’s Top 40 Research Hospitals  .
