The First Nations Health Authority is the first province-wide First Nations-led health authority in Canada, established in 2013 through Tripartite agreements between First Nations, the Government of BC, and the federal government. It designs, plans, manages, and funds health programs and services for First Nations communities in British Columbia. FNHA focuses on primary care, mental health, environmental health, cultural safety, and community wellness, working within a health governance framework that respects First Nations ownership, control, access, and possession (OCAP).
