The Douglas Mental Health University Institute, founded in 1881, is a McGill‑affiliated psychiatric teaching hospital and one of Canada’s largest mental health research centres. It is home to the Douglas Research Centre, which leads cutting-edge work in neuroscience, psychiatry, brain banking, molecular imaging, youth mental health, addiction, and dementia—publishing over 250 peer‑reviewed studies annually  .

Operating within the CIUSSS de l’Ouest‑de‑l’Île‑de‑Montréal network, Douglas provides specialized inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care, including emergency services, mood and anxiety programs, and eating disorders treatment across multiple sites.
