Dorothy Herbert has been the Research Ethics Board (REB) Leader at Interior Health (IH) since 2011. In this role, she manages research ethics applications, supports REB members in their responsibilities, and leads the development of policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Dorothy also collaborates with REB administrators across the province under the partnership agreement supported by Michael Smith Health Research BC. She is an active member of several Communities of Practice and serves as a mentor for new REB administrators.
Previously, Dorothy held a similar role at Providence Health Care in Vancouver. She has also worked as a clinical research coordinator specializing in nephrology, taught in the clinical research coordinator training program at BCIT, and earlier in her career, practiced as a registered dietitian.
She lives in Kelowna, BC, on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Syilx Nation.
