Shelley King

Shelley King is the Administrative & Member Services Coordinator at N2 Canada and has been a valued member of the organization since 2010. She supports daily operations, assists with member services, and helps coordinate training and event logistics.

Shelley plays a key role in providing administrative support for CITI Canada, guiding members in accessing and navigating the platform effectively. Based in Port Alberni, she manages a wide range of internal processes and delivers front-line support to N2’s national network.

She brings a background in office administration and client services, with training from CDI College.

Rebecca Barnes

Rebecca Barnes joined N2 Canada as Executive Director in February 2022, bringing over 15 years of leadership experience in health research strategy, systems development, and stakeholder engagement. She began her career as a bench cancer researcher and has since worked across academic, health authority, and network settings to enhance Canada’s research capacity through sustainable infrastructure and collaborative approaches. Prior to joining N2, Rebecca helped lead the Canadian Tissue Repository Network and served as the Vancouver Island regional lead for CIHR’s Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR) initiative, overseeing research engagement within Island Health. Most recently, she was Director in the Office of the Vice-President Research and Innovation at the University of Victoria. Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master’s degree in Environmental Toxicology and Carcinogenesis. She brings to N2 a deep commitment to building equitable, efficient, and patient-centered research systems across Canada.

Barbara Brown

Barbara Brown is a communications consultant with over 15 years of experience specializing in health research, education, and stakeholder engagement. As co-owner of Write & Design Technical Communication Inc., she works closely with national organizations, research networks, and health system leaders to develop clear, inclusive, and accessible communications.

Barbara brings a unique blend of strategic insight and creative execution to everything from digital campaigns to policy documents, often helping teams translate complex ideas into meaningful, human-centered content.

She has been part of the N2 community since 2017, supporting national initiatives aimed at improving clinical research infrastructure and knowledge exchange. Barbara contributes to multi-stakeholder projects that advance equity, transparency, and research culture across Canada. Known for her thoughtful collaboration, she is passionate about helping people feel seen, informed, and empowered through better communication.
