Founded in 1910 and formally affiliated with UdeM since 1925, the École d’optométrie is the oldest university-based optometry school in North America and the only francophone institution worldwide offering a professional Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree. Its five-year program integrates extensive clinical training in its University Vision Clinic (over 22,000 patient visits annually) with research opportunities in visual rehabilitation, neuro-optometry, pediatric and low-vision care. The school also leads community outreach through mobile clinics and international partnerships, advancing both clinical excellence and social impact .
