CIUSSS du Saguenay–Lac‑Saint‑Jean is a university-affiliated integrated health and social services authority serving over 500,000 residents across 62 facilities—including hospitals, youth centres, long-term care, CLSCs, and specialized rehabilitation—since it was established by merging nine organizations on April 1, 2015.  With more than 12,400 staff and an annual operating budget exceeding CAD 1 billion, the CIUSSS is dedicated to delivering comprehensive care—from prevention and chronic disease management to acute care, mental health, rehabilitation, and research. As part of the hybrid university network (RUISSS) with Université de Sherbrooke and UdeM, the CIUSSS hosts annual research days, biobank partnerships, and regional trials in areas like genetic disease, telehealth, and sustainable health approaches.
